SNAP HUNT
During the summer of 2018 I was contracted as a Level Designer for Darkroom Interactive to work on their debut title Snap Hunt, a 4 versus 1 asymmetric online multiplayer photography game, which transposes first-person shooter mechanics onto a 70's analogue camera.
4 human players, armed only with cameras, must seek out and photograph the Wendigo (of native american folklore) controlled by the fifth player. Humans players compete to snap the best photo of the Wendigo, while the Wendigo hunts humans and avoids detection.
My duties involved translating the game's design into a photogenic 360 metre squared level, to be first exhibited at EGX 2018's Tranzfuser stand.
Due to exhibition constraints and time limitations, we opted to create a AI controlled Wendigo to overcome the single screen exhibition restriction and avoid player's cheating by screen peeking.
The product received positive reception from Twitter, YouTube, Rock Paper Shotgun's 12 Upcoming PC Hidden Gems list, Channel 5's The Gadget Show, and most notably; The Guardian.
